Staff Engineer, Wafer Quality Assurance (AI)

Location: San Jose, California, with a secondary work location in Fremont, California; onsite at the San Jose Great Oaks Headquarters or Fremont Office

Salary: $102,500–$136,600 per year

What you will do

• Perform wafer paper failure analysis and provide dispositions for customer-flagged issues.
• Facilitate manufacturing readiness review and process design readiness meetings.
• Drive 8D closure, corrective and preventive actions, and root-cause resolution.
• Lead FMEA activities across wafer fabrication to identify and mitigate potential failure modes.
• Partner with process, equipment, manufacturing, and data engineering teams to deploy automated quality surveillance and anomaly detection.
• Implement AI-assisted quality monitoring for change review, material review, failure analysis, and FMEA workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, material science, physics, data sciences, or a related technical field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in quality assurance, quality engineering, semiconductor manufacturing, or wafer manufacturing.
• Strong problem-solving, root-cause-analysis, analytical, and statistical data interpretation skills.
• Familiarity with FMEA and semiconductor quality processes, including wafer products, SPC, wafer process build, and manufacturing interfaces.
• Ability to collaborate across technical and operations teams and communicate complex findings through data storytelling and visualization.
• Ability to work onsite in San Jose or Fremont, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI/ML, generative AI, large language models, Copilot technologies, or digital agents.
• Experience developing or using AI-enabled quality monitoring and reporting systems.
• Knowledge of HAMR and end-to-end quality management in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Experience with automation and digital transformation initiatives.
