Clinical Nurse Specialist (Bladder & Bowel)

Location: National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury, United Kingdom

Salary: £45,000–£55,000 per year, depending on experience and other legitimate business factors.

What you will do

• Provide specialist bladder, bowel and continence support to patients with neurogenic dysfunction, spinal cord injuries and complex neurological conditions.
• Support urodynamics services, including patient preparation, education, clinical assessment, documentation and follow-up.
• Manage an allocated caseload, triage referrals, monitor outcomes and arrange timely escalation and follow-up.
• Develop and deliver education programmes on bladder, bowel, continence and catheter management for NHS staff, community teams, patients and carers.
• Contribute to safeguarding, incident reporting, infection prevention, clinical audit, service evaluation and quality improvement.
• Develop clinical pathways, policies and patient information, while collaborating with consultants, commissioners, community providers and multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

• Valid NMC PIN and qualified RGN nurse status.
• At least three years of nursing experience with demonstrable clinical experience in urology.
• Knowledge of continence care, urodynamics and research-based holistic patient care.
• Experience with clinical IT systems such as EMIS and SystemOne.
• Ability to prioritise, manage a caseload and organise an independent workload.
• Strong communication skills across clinical teams, patients, families and external stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Recognised continence care or urology qualification.
• Recent post-registration training and professional development.
• Understanding of financial control and service budget management.
