Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist (Bladder & Bowel) (Continence Care)

Location: National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury, United Kingdom

Salary: £50,000–£62,000 per year, depending on experience and other legitimate business factors.

What you will do

• Provide professional leadership, supervision, mentorship and coaching to specialist nurses and other nursing colleagues.
• Support the operational management of bladder, bowel and continence services, including caseloads, referrals, waiting times and capacity.
• Support bladder assessment pathways, intermittent self-catheterisation, catheter management, continence assessment and commissioned urodynamic services.
• Contribute to clinical governance, safeguarding, incident management, audits, quality improvement and inspection readiness.
• Develop clinical competencies, education programmes, patient pathways, business cases and service improvement initiatives.
• Monitor activity, performance indicators, service outcomes, resources and contractual objectives.

Requirements

• Valid NMC PIN and qualified RGN nurse status are essential.
• Minimum 7 years of nursing experience with proven experience and interest in urology or continence care.
• Experience managing staff, demonstrating professional and managerial credibility, and supporting service development.
• Experience presenting or publishing, participating in audits or quality improvement, and working with CQC regulations.
• Knowledge of holistic, research-based patient care, stoma or continence nursing practice, statutory requirements and NHS priorities.
• Strong leadership, communication, organisation, prioritisation, computer literacy and commitment to professional development.

Nice to have

• Recognised continence care or urology qualification.
• Recent post-registration training and development.
