Building Access Technician II

Location: College Station, Texas, United States; onsite university role with rotating after-hours on-call duties and overtime or special hours as needed.

What you will do

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot university card access systems, including wiring, control modules, card readers, locks, and related hardware.
• Repair mechanical locks, rekey locks, cut and stamp keys, and install commercial-grade door hardware.
• Manage campus keying records and update the secure database containing key-bitting information.
• Maintain shop inventory and order materials and supplies.
• Assist with large keyless-entry installations, administrative issues, and training or directing departmental personnel.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Four years of experience in locksmithing, carpentry, electronics, or a related field.
• Class C vehicle operator’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to multitask, work cooperatively, communicate effectively, and teach new concepts.
• Ability to work onsite in College Station and participate in rotating after-hours emergency coverage.

Nice to have

• Completed locksmith apprenticeship or access control certification.
• More than four years of related experience, including master keying systems and commercial door hardware.
• Experience with online and standalone card access systems.
