Staff Cloud Operations Engineer (GCP)

Location: Remote within the United States of America; candidates outside the domestic U.S. cannot be hired.

Base salary: $185,000–$200,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, implement, maintain, and scale secure, highly available cloud infrastructure in GCP.
• Build workflow and infrastructure automation using tools such as cron, n8n, and Airflow to reduce operational toil.
• Maintain incident response processes, monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability tooling across the application stack.
• Coordinate outage response, compliance activities, sprint planning, metrics reporting, and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and observability issues while supporting production systems.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and build automation that enables infrastructure self-healing during incidents.

Requirements

• Must be located in the United States and authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship or transfer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, preferably with GCP.
• Experience with observability practices and tools, including monitoring, logging, and tracing.
• Strong experience with at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Bash, Java, or Go.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud security collaboration, and participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
• Collaboration experience with Data Engineering teams.
• Previous experience in a 24/7 on-call environment.
• Mentorship or technical leadership experience directing junior engineers on projects.
