Senior Mechanical Engineer (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Design and integrate cryostat internal architecture, signal-chain components, metal enclosures, and other complex mechanical subsystems.
• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and mechanical interface specifications.
• Design thermal anchoring and shielding systems spanning room temperature to millikelvin environments.
• Perform thermal, vibrational, and structural simulations using FEA tools.
• Build and validate mechanical and cryogenic prototypes in the laboratory.
• Collaborate with quantum physicists, RF and electrical engineers, systems teams, fabrication partners, and suppliers to deliver integrated quantum hardware.

Requirements

• M.S. degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
• 7+ years of industry experience in mechanical design and systems engineering.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software; SolidWorks is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of tolerance analysis and GD&T principles.
• Experience with thermal and structural modeling, simulation, documentation control, revision management, PLM tools, and assembly-process documentation.
• Strong cross-disciplinary communication and project collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with cryogenic materials, thermal-mechanical effects, and multiphysics system design.
• Experience with RF packaging and electronic device integration in cryogenic or vacuum environments.
• Quality assurance experience, including inspection methods and non-conformance resolution.
• Hands-on machining or fabrication experience for rapid prototyping and design iteration.
