Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection

Location: Honeoye, New York. Candidates must reside within the listed service-area ZIP codes and work in a commutable field territory from home. The role includes in-person appointments, occasional travel to other territories, and some virtual work from home.

Salary: $59,059.65–$90,000 per year, with potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess residential and commercial property damage.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Meet with policyholders, explain coverage, gather evidence, estimate damage, and prepare detailed reports.
• Evaluate policy terms and coverage validity while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
• Communicate with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders, including during difficult or emotional conversations.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits and company guidelines.

Requirements

• Residence within the assigned Honeoye, New York service territory is required.
• Ability to investigate issues, evaluate information, interpret policies, and make well-supported decisions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and customer-service skills.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical agility is required for frequent lifting, carrying, ladder climbing, roof navigation, and crawling in tight spaces.
• Valid driver's license required. Required training, licensing exams, motor-vehicle-record checks, background checks, and pre-employment assessments may apply.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent property-claims experience.
• Knowledge of property insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial building construction.
• Water mitigation inspection experience.
• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents.
• Rope and harness safety training or willingness to complete it.
