Optical Engineer (Optics)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; international travel with short notice of up to 20% is required.

Base pay: $117,800–$172,800 annually.

What you will do

• Advance optical inspection and imaging technologies for semiconductor manufacturing.
• Perform high-precision optical alignment and validate imaging performance.
• Model optical performance and define tolerances and degrees of freedom for optical assemblies.
• Apply CodeV or LightTools to support optical design and analysis.
• Conduct hands-on laboratory work and methodical problem-solving in a multidisciplinary environment.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of optics, including imaging system aberrations, Fourier optics, polarization, and radiometry.
• Experience with high-precision optical alignment and imaging performance validation.
• Experience modeling optical performance and defining optical assembly tolerances using CodeV or LightTools.
• Intermediate knowledge of MATLAB or Python.
• Doctorate with no related experience, or a master’s degree with 3 years of related experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a detail-oriented, methodical approach.
