Optical System Engineer VI (E4)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; onsite. Travel required approximately 10% of the time. Relocation eligible.

Salary: $161,000–$221,000 per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package and potential bonus and stock awards.

What you will do

• Lead optical, mechanical, electrical, software, algorithm, and systems engineers delivering modules and subsystems for optical inspection and metrology tools.
• Translate market and program requirements into high-level and detailed system requirements, architectures, and specifications.
• Develop conceptual optical designs, light and error budgets, alignment methods, tooling, and novel technical solutions.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex engineering problems while coordinating cross-functional implementation and delivery.
• Design test plans and procedures, and construct, calibrate, and operate optical and opto-mechanical test benches.
• Support system integration, design reviews, final testing, manufacturing, reliability, service, and engineering knowledge transfer.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Optical Physics, Optical Sciences, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5–15 years of relevant experience, ideally in the semiconductor capital equipment industry.
• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of optical physics and systems engineering.
• Experience with industry-standard design and analysis tools including Zemax or Code V, Python, and MATLAB.
• Experimental laboratory and engineering design skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams and manage technical project delivery.

• DUV and imaging optics experience.
