Location: Santa Clara, CA, United States. Onsite role with approximately 10% travel; relocation eligible.

Salary: $138,000–$190,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Develop optical hardware for next-generation semiconductor annealing technologies and tools.
  • Design and conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate concepts and prototype hardware.
  • Collect, analyze, and present performance data to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Analyze tool sensor and wafer data to troubleshoot equipment performance.
  • Define specifications and testing protocols with optical system suppliers.
  • Integrate optical systems into final products and resolve imaging and optical metrology problems.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Physics, Applied Optics, or Optical Engineering; a PhD is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of optical theory, design principles, and techniques.
  • Experience with Zemax or CODEV and non-sequential ray-tracing software such as Zemax or LightTools.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with optical testing, alignment, metrology, and imaging.
  • Experience analyzing data with MATLAB, Python, or Mathematica.
  • Experience with non-contact temperature measurement, high-power lasers, or laboratory measurement automation.
  • Knowledge of optical materials and coatings.
  • Experience working with optical suppliers and product clients, or publications and patents in optics.
