Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist (Urology/Continence Care)

Location: National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury, United Kingdom. Permanent, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

Base salary: £50,000–£62,000 per year, depending on experience and other legitimate business factors.

What you will do

• Provide professional leadership, supervision, mentorship, and coaching to clinical nursing colleagues.
• Support recruitment, competency assessment, appraisal, workforce planning, and development of future clinical leaders.
• Contribute to operational management of specialist bladder, bowel, and continence services, including referrals, caseloads, waiting times, and capacity.
• Support clinical governance, safeguarding, incident reporting, audit, quality assurance, and inspection readiness.
• Support bladder assessment pathways, intermittent self-catheterisation, catheter management, continence assessment, and commissioned urodynamic services.
• Contribute to service redesign, business cases, pathway optimisation, quality improvement, performance monitoring, and reporting.

Requirements

• Valid NMC PIN and qualification as a Registered General Nurse (RGN).
• Minimum 7 years of nursing experience with proven experience and interest in urology or continence care.
• Experience managing staff and demonstrating professional and managerial credibility.
• Knowledge of holistic, research-based patient care and current stoma or continence care practice and statutory requirements.
• Experience with CQC regulations, clinical governance, presenting or publishing, and quality improvement.
• Leadership, communication, organisational, prioritisation, computer literacy, and commitment to professional development.

Nice to have

• Recognised continence care or urology qualification.
• Recent post-registration training and development.
