TL;DR
Underwriter (M&A/W&I): Underwriting SME Warranty & Indemnity risks across UK and European M&A transactions with an accent on due diligence, deal documentation, portfolio construction, and technical rating. Focus on analyzing claims and portfolio data, refining rating models and coverage guidelines, negotiating policy terms, and developing broker and client relationships.

What you will do
- Contribute to the Warranty & Indemnity underwriting strategy and help establish a market-leading SME risks team.
- Review and underwrite new risks using technical rating models, coverage guidelines, and authority limits.
- Analyze claims and portfolio data to identify trends, improve underwriting efficiency, and support profitable growth.
- Build relationships with brokers, distribution partners, private equity firms, and acquisitive corporate clients.
- Develop skills in negotiating policy terms, conditions, wording, and clauses.
- Maintain strong working relationships across and contribute innovative ideas to portfolio development.
Requirements
- Relevant specialist experience for W&I underwriting, such as M&A consultancy, advisory, transaction processes, due diligence, sale and purchase agreements, or related deal documentation.
- Strong understanding of risks inherent in W&I underwriting from the relevant specialist perspective.
- Analytical ability to assess loss performance, portfolio rate adequacy, and underwriting efficiency.
- Ability to work through complex wording and clause drafting or amendments.
- Computer literacy and ability to learn and use in-house and Microsoft systems.

- Direct experience underwriting W&I risks.
- Previous exposure to W&I insurance.
