Systems Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia; full-time, onsite role

What you will do

• Translate user, clinical, business, and regulatory needs into system requirements, risk assessments, and technical solutions.
• Create, maintain, and support requirements traceability using a requirements management tool.
• Collaborate with software, algorithms, electronics, mechanical, verification, and clinical teams to develop integrated system solutions.
• Evaluate technical design options and trade-offs, escalate recommendations when needed, and resolve cross-functional technical issues.
• Support evidence-based product verification and validation activities.
• Participate in system risk management, technical reviews, and continuous improvement of systems engineering processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Foundational understanding of engineering principles and systems thinking.
• Methodical approach to analysing technical problems.
• Clear communication skills and ability to contribute effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to learn medical device regulations, standards, and quality systems.
• Interest in continuous improvement and safe, reliable product outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience with JIRA, Jama, Confluence, or similar engineering development tools.
