What you will do
- Perform skilled maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including diesel and gasoline engines, drivetrain components, exhaust systems, batteries, belts, hoses, and tires.
- Carry out preventative maintenance inspections and maintain manual and computerized service orders.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify engine, transmission, electrical, and other vehicle faults.
- Maintain vehicle specifications and fleet-wide maintenance records, identify replacement parts, and submit parts requests.
- Drive DOT-regulated vehicles for test drives, disabled-vehicle recovery, and vehicle deliveries.
- Keep the shop clean and work cooperatively with other transportation professionals.
Requirements
- High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least two years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy-duty vehicles or equipment, or a combination of relevant work and school experience.
- Valid vehicle operator’s license and a good driving record.
- Ability to obtain a State of Texas Class B commercial driver’s license with passenger and air-brakes endorsements within 60 days of employment.
- Working knowledge of engine and drivetrain components, diagnostic software, basic DC electrical troubleshooting, welding, and cutting-torch operation.
- Ability to work onsite in College Station, work changing shifts, and support Saturday home football games as needed.
Nice to have
- Automotive or diesel trade-school training.
- Commercial vehicle operator’s license with passenger and air-brakes endorsements.
- ASE or equivalent OEM certifications in related specialties.
