Medical Lab Scientist (Microbiology)

Location: Memphis, TN, United States. Full-time onsite role working 10-hour evening shifts from 1:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Sunday through Wednesday, with rotating holiday coverage.

Salary: $29.00–$50.50 per hour.

What you will do

• Perform, validate, document, and report accurate laboratory test results used for prognosis, diagnosis, treatment, and research.
• Conduct quality control activities for reagents and analyzers, document results, and escalate issues.
• Assist with laboratory equipment setup, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, inventory planning, and monitoring.
• Maintain procedure, preventive maintenance, quality, compliance, and record-management documentation.
• Collect quality data, support quality program initiatives, and comply with hospital and accrediting-agency standards.
• Report unusual observations promptly and maintain regular, predictable attendance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, or a biological, chemical, or physical science, plus completion of a medical laboratory training program.
• Medical laboratory skills gained through clinical rotations or training.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technologist from an approved accrediting organization is required within six months of hire if not licensed in Tennessee as a medical laboratory professional.
• Acceptable credentials include MLS, MT-General, Medical Laboratory Supervisor-General or Categorical Supervisor, Special Analyst, or Categorical Technologist credentials for the assigned laboratory section.
• Medical laboratory work experience is preferred.
