Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Microbiology

Location: Onsite in Oak Creek, Wisconsin; initial training in Dublin, Ohio. Additional listed locations include Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Rochester, Michigan. Schedule: Shift 1, Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., with rotating weekends.

What you will do

• Evaluate specimen acceptability and assist with specimen processing.
• Perform routine and complex microbiology testing according to standard operating procedures.
• Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate reagents and controls.
• Report accurate and timely results to support patient care.
• Document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures, maintain supplies, and follow laboratory safety requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical science, biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology, or an MLS degree.
• At least one year of clinical laboratory testing experience unless qualifying through an MLS degree.
• Ability to make technical decisions, solve testing problems, and work independently and within a team.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and computer proficiency.
• High attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills, and ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Willingness to work overtime or other shifts according to business needs.

Nice to have

• ASCP or AMT certification.
• At least one year of experience with culture identification and susceptibility testing.
• Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may satisfy the education requirement.
