Head of Data Management - Managing Director (NY) (AI/Data Governance)

Location: New York, New York, United States. Hybrid schedule with office attendance on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Annual base salary: $225,000–$300,000.

What you will do

• Define and execute the enterprise data management strategy, operating model, standards, and capabilities.
• Lead Data Operations, including data stewardship, master and reference data management, taxonomy and ontology development, data quality, and provider management.
• Establish enterprise data domains, ownership frameworks, definitions, lifecycle controls, metadata, lineage, catalogs, and integration standards.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, and business leaders to improve data platforms and identify opportunities to commercialize proprietary data assets.
• Ensure ratings-related data processes, controls, documentation, and lineage meet regulatory and audit expectations.
• Build the organization, establish KPIs, oversee change governance, and lead cross-functional data forums and escalations.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in data management, data strategy, data operations, data governance, or related disciplines.
• Significant experience building and managing data teams and enterprise data-management capabilities.
• Experience in financial services, capital markets, credit ratings, financial data, or another data-intensive industry.
• Experience working in regulated environments with risk, compliance, audit, regulators, and other senior stakeholders.
• Experience with master data management, reference data, metadata, taxonomy, ontology, data quality platforms, lineage, and modern data platforms.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent relevant experience, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience preparing enterprise data for artificial intelligence, machine learning, semantic search, or advanced analytics.
