Technical Project Manager (Defense)

Salary: $111,500–$156,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Develop and maintain cost, schedule, and resource plans for engineering and RDT&E efforts.
• Create technical project schedules covering milestones, dependencies, resource constraints, testing, qualification, and completion dates.
• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and budget-versus-actual analyses across delivery orders, CLINs, and work packages.
• Develop Basis of Estimates and cost/resource inputs for proposals, delivery orders, contract modifications, and new technical scope.
• Track technical workstreams, identify variances and constraints, assess impacts of changing requirements, and communicate risks and required actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, project management, finance, or a related technical or quantitative discipline, or 4–8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience supporting or leading engineering development, R&D/RDT&E, testing, qualification, production, or other technical development activities.
• Experience developing project schedules, labor/resource estimates, budgets, cost forecasts, and quantitative project plans.
• Experience tracking cost, schedule, and resource performance and communicating variances, constraints, and forecast impacts.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with Microsoft Project or another project scheduling tool.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering and technical or operational teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, robotics, UAS, space, or another complex hardware development environment.
• Experience with Basis of Estimates, proposal pricing, or government contracting activities.
• Familiarity with FFP, CPFF, IDIQ, Delivery Order/CLIN structures, FAR cost principles, or government proposal requirements.
• Knowledge of prototype builds, EVT/DVT, verification, qualification, testing, and transition to production.
• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP/financial systems, or a PMP certification.
