Controls Technician (HVAC)

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; field-based work at customer locations

Salary: $42,500.00–$77,595.00 annual base salary range; hourly compensation type

What you will do

• Start up and commission new environmental-control systems.
• Diagnose and repair HVAC, direct digital control, electronic, refrigeration, airflow, and mechanical systems.
• Service products and equipment at customer locations while maintaining customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate requirements, materials, schedules, installations, and repairs with the team leader and customers.
• Maintain current knowledge of Trane products, including installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems.
• Enforce safety standards, track company assets, and work overtime or occasional overnight stays when required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Typically 3–5 years of experience in HVAC or controls.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and handheld devices such as smartphones or iPads.
• Valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months with an acceptable driving record and no major or frequent traffic violations.
• Ability to perform field-based work at customer locations and occasional overtime or overnight stays.

Nice to have

• Technical school or formal technical training.
• Previous experience with direct digital control systems.
