Mechanical Apprentice (Automotive)

Location: Vars, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; onsite automotive service role

Salary: $25.00–$30.00 CAD per hour, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and other relevant factors.

What you will do

• Perform pre- and post-sale vehicle inspections, test drives, frame inspections, and general inspections.
• Diagnose vehicle issues and identify required repairs.
• Complete oil and fluid changes, tire changes, and other routine maintenance.
• Assist with brake, exhaust, alignment, ball joint, and air conditioning repairs.
• Maintain auction vehicles, support general shop operations, and move vehicles as needed.
• Assist with parts sourcing, quotes, work orders, and complex repairs alongside other technicians.

Requirements

• Education or certification as an Automotive Service Technician.
• 1–3 years of experience repairing and servicing mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle systems and components.
• Valid driver's abstract.
• Basic computer skills and proficient smartphone use.
• Proactive approach, strong communication and problem-solving skills, reliability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
• Flexibility to work Saturday shifts when required.

Nice to have

• Registered Apprentice status or an interest in obtaining Red Seal qualification.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
