Field Service Technician, Electrical & Software Systems (Robotics)

Location: Toronto, Canada; 100% in-office. Travel to customer sites across Canada and the United States is required.

Salary: CAD 55,000–85,000 per year

Toronto-based healthcare robotics company designing, manufacturing, and delivering robotic patient-transfer systems to acute care hospitals across North America.

What you will do

• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair robotic patient-transfer systems at customer sites.
• Diagnose electrical, electronic, software, sensor, motor-controller, and device-communication faults.
• Use multimeters, diagnostic tools, system logs, and structured testing to isolate faults and verify repairs.
• Perform firmware updates, configuration changes, calibrations, functional testing, mechanical adjustments, and component replacements.
• Provide remote troubleshooting and on-site customer support while collaborating with engineering to reproduce issues and validate corrective actions.
• Maintain service records and improve troubleshooting guides, service procedures, and technician training materials.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of relevant experience in field service, electronics, robotics, automation, or related electromechanical systems.
• Relevant technical education or equivalent practical experience in electronics, electrical engineering technology, mechatronics, robotics, or a related field.
• Strong electrical and electronics fundamentals, including schematic reading, wiring and signal tracing, and use of multimeters and other diagnostic tools.
• Experience with software troubleshooting, logs, equipment configuration, firmware updates, basic networking, and device communication interfaces.
• Hands-on mechanical servicing skills, structured problem-solving ability, clear documentation, autonomy, and professional client communication.
• Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites across Canada and the United States.

Nice to have

• Linux command-line experience and scripting with Python, Bash, or similar tools.
• Experience with CAN bus, serial communications, embedded control systems, oscilloscopes, motor drives, encoders, or feedback sensors.
• Experience servicing medical devices or working in hospital environments.
• Familiarity with remote diagnostics, telemetry, or fleet monitoring tools.
• Practical projects demonstrating interest in robotics, electronics, or engineering.
