Senior Technology Designer (Low-Voltage Systems)

Location: Naperville or Chicago, Illinois, United States. Full-time hybrid schedule with up to 50% local, domestic, and international travel.

Salary: $107,000–$149,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead designs for structured cabling, audio/video, security, communications, and other low-voltage building systems.
• Produce technical plans, specifications, calculations, site assessments, and engineering reports using applicable software and code requirements.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project delivery, design reviews, quality control, schedules, budgets, billings, and construction support.
• Gather requirements, guide clients, manage project concerns and change orders, and participate in interviews and presentations.
• Train and mentor staff, provide technical and field-issue support, and contribute to innovation and emerging technology initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, electronics, computer, related engineering, information technology, computer science, or a related STEM field, or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of experience in building design consulting, with 8 years preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in technical design, electrical low-voltage systems, digital and analog signals, and basic IT networking topologies and protocols.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, and quality-control skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to travel up to 50%, including possible overnight and air travel.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Associate degree or certificate in Building Information Modeling or Engineering.
• 11 years of experience in building design consulting or construction, with 12 years preferred.
• Experience with healthcare, government, institutional communications, security, AV, telecom, acoustics, or federal technology programs.
