Senior Systems Engineer, Hardware Systems (Automotive)

Location: Dallas, TX, United States; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the office. Travel to hirify.global operations locations is required for approximately 30% of the time.

Salary: $135,000–$196,000 base salary per year, plus annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end investigations of autonomous vehicle fleet and production issues, from bug escalation through root-cause analysis and remediation.
• Troubleshoot power distribution, thermal, sensor cleaning, external HMI, emergency signaling, audio, telematics, and mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic interfaces.
• Design and execute controlled tests using closed-course evaluations, fault injection, hardware-in-the-loop setups, and custom diagnostic instruments.
• Develop and deploy short-term containment measures and long-term corrective actions, including firmware changes, system architecture updates, and operational controls.
• Build automated HIL test scripts, investigate end-of-line production issues, and improve scalable workflows for field diagnostics and root-cause analysis.
• Travel to hirify.global operations locations to investigate field issues and coordinate handoffs to production and partner teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, mechatronics, or computer science engineering with at least 6 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• At least 2 years of industry experience in systems engineering and at least 2 years in system test planning and execution, including verification and validation.
• Strong organizational skills for managing field issues end to end.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with local and remote teams and driving issue resolution.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment in Dallas, TX, with at least 3 days per week in the office and approximately 30% travel to operations locations.

Nice to have

• Experience troubleshooting automated vehicles, robotic systems, automotive power architectures, and J1939 CAN or LIN networks.
• Experience with diagnostic equipment, data acquisition, CAN logging, and analysis of autonomy logs, telematics, and diagnostic data.
• Experience using AI tools and workflows to accelerate data analysis, system triage, and root-cause investigations.
• Knowledge of fault-tolerant, fail-operational, common-cause, and cascading-fault architectures.
• Experience translating investigation findings into engineering requirements, FMEAs, and validation plans for HIL benches and vehicles.
