Senior R&D Engineer, Opto-Electronics

Salary: $89,500–$119,500 per year, plus annual bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Design and develop laser-based, imaging-based, and photonic sensing systems.
• Define system requirements and architectures balancing performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
• Design analog and digital electronics, photodetector interfaces, laser drivers, illumination controls, and embedded processing systems.
• Perform optical modeling, tolerance analysis, experimental characterization, and imaging solution development.
• Release designs into production, support manufacturing scale-up, and troubleshoot electrical, optical, and system-level issues.
• Provide technical leadership, collaborate with mechanical, firmware, software, manufacturing, and data science teams, and prepare technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience developing opto-electronic products or sensor systems.
• Strong knowledge of laser systems, optical sensors, photodetectors, cameras, imaging systems, and analog and mixed-signal electronics.
• Experience with electrical schematics, PCB development, and troubleshooting multidisciplinary systems.
• Demonstrated ability to transition R&D technology into manufacturing.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a related field.
• Experience with imaging sensors, laser measurement instruments, industrial inspection systems, metrology, semiconductor process control, or advanced manufacturing instrumentation.
• Knowledge of machine vision, deep learning for image analysis, computational imaging, spectroscopy, optical simulation, ZEMAX, Altium, or LTSpice.
• Experience with embedded systems, FPGA-based architectures, reliability testing, environmental qualification, or regulatory compliance.
