Senior Auto Field Appraiser (Bay Area)

Location: Bay Area, United States. Fully remote conditions are listed, but the position is field-based and requires regular vehicle travel within assigned counties; hybrid and virtual appraisal methods are available when appropriate.

What you will do

• Inspect vehicle damage in the field and through virtual appraisal methods.
• Prepare repair estimates using industry-standard estimating software.
• Negotiate repair costs and settlements with body shops, tow yards, storage facilities, and other parties.
• Evaluate total loss claims, determine actual cash value, review supplemental damage requests, and conduct re-inspections.
• Communicate with customers, document claims, and prepare correspondence and reports.
• Support complex claims, difficult negotiations, onboarding, and training for new team members.

Requirements

• 10+ years of auto damage appraisal and vehicle estimating experience in the property and casualty insurance industry.
• Experience with collision damage estimates, supplemental repairs, total loss evaluations, and complex vehicle damage claims.
• Working knowledge of CCC One, Mitchell, Audatex, or similar estimating platforms.
• Proven negotiation experience with repair facilities, tow providers, and storage vendors.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Independent Adjuster License when required and pass a background check.

• College degree.
• Experience mentoring, coaching, or training team members.
• Multi-state claims handling experience.
