Claim Specialist-Auto Field Assignment

Location: Sacramento, California; candidates should reside within a commutable distance of the territory. This is a remote-field role involving work from home, a mobile office or vehicle, and recurring in-person appointments. Travel outside the assigned territory, flexible shifts, overtime, and irregular hours may be required.

Salary: $69,398.62–$91,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Review residential and commercial injury claims with exposures up to $500,000 to determine coverage, liability, and damages.
• Investigate claims by gathering information, interviewing involved parties, and reviewing medical records, police reports, policies, and other documentation.
• Conduct customer-facing field assignments, including securing documentation and handling in-person inspections.
• Evaluate, negotiate, and settle third-party liability claims within policy limits and company guidelines.
• Handle lawsuits, demands, court appearances, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials when required.
• Document claim activity and collaborate with policyholders, agents, legal and medical teams, vendors, experts, and defense counsel.

Requirements

• Prior claim handling experience, including damage assessment, repair-cost estimation, and settlement negotiation.
• Experience or ability to evaluate bodily injury, property damage liability, and uninsured or underinsured motorist claims.
• Proficiency with claims management software and related tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, critical thinking, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple technical platforms, and handle difficult or emotionally challenging investigations.
• Valid driver’s license and physical ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, navigate roofs, and crawl in tight spaces are required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Litigation experience involving trials, settlement conferences, or mediations.
• Knowledge of insurance policies, procedures, laws, statutes, and regulations.
