Database Administrator - Mid/Senior Level (SQL/Oracle)

What you will do

• Administer, maintain, secure, patch, upgrade, migrate, and optimize enterprise database environments supporting NASA applications.
• Work with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
• Perform backup, recovery, disaster recovery, health monitoring, performance tuning, and availability management.
• Troubleshoot complex database performance and operational issues and respond to incidents within established SLAs.
• Collaborate with developers, system administrators, engineers, and NASA stakeholders.
• Automate administrative tasks, document configurations and procedures, and contribute to modernization initiatives.

Requirements

• Mid- to senior-level database administration experience, typically 6–8 years; a bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience are preferred, with equivalent experience considered.
• US citizenship or Green Card holder status required.
• Experience supporting Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and/or MySQL, including installation, configuration, security hardening, patching, migrations, upgrades, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring.
• Knowledge of ANSI SQL, Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, Microsoft T-SQL, database design, development, and integration principles.
• Familiarity with SQL Server Availability Groups, Distributed Availability Groups, Oracle Data Guard, and MySQL replication.
• Experience with Red Hat Linux, Microsoft Windows, VMware ESXi, SAN/NAS storage, enterprise backup solutions, and Oracle RMAN, Data Pump, and Net Services.

Nice to have

• PowerShell, VBScript, or batch scripting experience.
• Additional experience with VMware ESXi, SAN/NAS storage technologies, and enterprise backup and recovery platforms.
