Engineering Manager, Governance Intelligence (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in Bellevue, Washington, or San Francisco, California, USA

Annual base salary: $204,000–$281,000 in San Francisco or $182,000–$250,000 in Bellevue/Seattle.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a team of ML specialists and software engineers delivering intelligence features for Identity Governance.
• Design and maintain backend services, frontend interfaces, APIs, and distributed systems for secure, scalable access management.
• Build AI evaluation frameworks measuring factuality, relevance, and task completion, with quality gates before production release.
• Own the AI product lifecycle from problem framing and data curation through training, A/B testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.
• Architect and operate cloud and on-premises infrastructure across high-compliance security baselines, supporting federal deployments.
• Drive improvements in CI/CD, observability, reliability, documentation, support processes, and engineering standards.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in engineering management and enterprise cloud software delivery.
• Hands-on coding experience with Java, Python, or TypeScript, plus REST or gRPC APIs and UI automation such as Playwright or Selenium.
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and a major cloud platform.
• Strong expertise in scalable backend architecture, secure enterprise software, modern web technologies, and complex API integration.
• Practical understanding of AI across the software development lifecycle, including evaluation and adoption of AI tooling.
• Knowledge of web authentication and authorization, sensitive-data security, and fullstack development with JavaScript or TypeScript.

Nice to have

• Experience building, scaling, and troubleshooting AI infrastructure on AWS or GCP.
• Experience with Identity Governance and Administration, including access requests, certifications, entitlement management, separation of duties, or role modeling.
• Experience with Identity and Access Management technologies such as SSO, SCIM provisioning, directory integration, or privileged access.
