Engineering Manager (Kotlin/Python)

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Chicago, Washington, DC, or New York City. In-office attendance is required on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with possible increases based on project needs and company policy.

Base salary: $207,000–$237,000 for New York City; $188,000–$215,000 for Austin, Chicago, and Washington, DC. Additional equity and benefits are included.

What you will do

• Lead the Reconciliation team, a full-stack group responsible for transaction matching, cashback verification, post-claim experiences, and user recovery flows.
• Define and evolve the team's domain across offer reconciliation, receiptful and receiptless transaction flows, and self-heal capabilities.
• Improve accuracy, reliability, observability, scalability, security, and production readiness across the reconciliation stack.
• Coach engineers, scale the team, establish a safe and collaborative environment, and support independent execution.
• Contribute hands-on to high-leverage technical areas while guiding development, debugging, and system understanding.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data, Consumer Operations, and external partners on roadmap and technical strategy.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of engineering management experience and a strong leadership track record.
• Experience scaling teams and improving systems in ambiguous or rapidly changing environments.
• Technical depth across mobile and API infrastructure, backend data tools, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on familiarity with serverless, event-driven, REST, microservices, MVI, and Clean Architecture patterns.
• Ability to work across Kotlin Multiplatform front-end systems and Python and Java back-end services.
• Curiosity about using generative AI to improve development, delivery, debugging, and system understanding.

Nice to have

• Experience with mobile or distributed API domains.
• Experience with AWS, Snowflake, Hex, or similar data and infrastructure tools.
