Engineering Manager, Data Marketplace

Location: New York, NY; on-site. U.S. citizenship required, and candidates must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Base salary: $197,000–$236,000 per year. Estimated total compensation: $289,000–$354,000, including target bonus and estimated equity value.

What you will do

• Lead and develop a cross-disciplinary engineering team spanning frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure.
• Own the technical roadmap and partner with the Product Manager on product priorities.
• Run projects end to end, resolving blockers, coordinating dependencies, and communicating timelines, risks, and tradeoffs.
• Guide architecture and technical decisions for secure, coherent, and scalable marketplace systems.
• Establish engineering quality standards covering design reviews, testing, documentation, and security practices.
• Hire, onboard, coach, and develop engineers while contributing hands-on through code review, implementation, or debugging when needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience and 3–5 years of engineering management experience.
• Experience leading mixed-discipline teams and managing engineers across different seniority levels.
• Technical breadth across modern web platforms, backend services, shared platform capabilities, and interface contracts.
• Experience owning technical roadmaps, prioritizing under constraints, and delivering projects to a high standard.
• Experience developing engineers through clear expectations, feedback, coaching, and growth plans.
• U.S. citizenship is required, and eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in defense, intelligence, national security, or cybersecurity technology.
• Experience building marketplace, matching, recommendation, ranking, forecasting, or decision-support systems.
• Experience with Neo4j, graph-based data models, event streams, operational telemetry, probabilistic scoring, or machine learning.
• Experience designing privacy and operational-security controls such as anonymization, aggregation, obfuscation, fine-grained access controls, RBAC, audit logging, or identity verification.
• Experience with cyber operations, vulnerability intelligence, exploit development, or capability assessment.
