TL;DR

Focus on exercising real-time news judgment, managing editorial contributors, using AI tools responsibly, and optimizing newsletter engagement through open rates, click rates, and subscriber growth.

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States. This role is expected to be performed in the office five days a week. Limited travel to remote offices, business meetings, or events may be required.

Annual base salary: $130,000–$170,000. Target annual bonus: 15%.

What you will do

  • Own the Daily Pitch newsletter from lineup planning and item editing through headline writing and on-time weekday publication.
  • Make fast news judgments and adjust coverage for late-breaking developments.
  • Translate analyst reports and proprietary datasets into clear, visually compelling newsletter items for dealmakers, allocators, and investors.
  • Partner with reporters, editors, and the Institutional Research Group to identify and elevate high-impact stories.
  • Track open rates, click rates, and subscriber growth, then improve story selection and newsletter format.
  • Use AI tools to support editorial workflows while maintaining accuracy, fairness, and journalistic integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of financial journalism experience, including 3+ years focused on private equity, venture capital, or M&A.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, especially with headlines and leads, and the ability to explain complex information through engaging stories.
  • Experience managing reporters or editors, planning editorial coverage, and collaborating with analysts, researchers, and other contributors.
  • Experience producing a daily or high-frequency news product in a deadline-driven environment, with knowledge of newsletter performance metrics and audience growth.
  • Familiarity with financial data, deal databases, content management systems, email service providers, project management software, AP or in-house style guides, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
