Senior Reporter (PharmaVoice)

Location: Washington, DC, USA; based in the office with in-person work three days a week or more

Salary: $80,000–$94,000 per year, based on experience

What you will do

• Produce enterprise reporting, in-depth features, and quick-turn news stories covering the biopharma and biotech industries.
• Report on operational and leadership changes, drug research and development, commercialization, regulatory policy, and legislative developments.
• Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders, newsmakers, and subject-matter experts.
• Attend industry events, conduct interviews, and gather insights for editorial coverage.
• Collaborate on larger editorial projects and take ownership of assigned beats.
• Perform daily editing to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with editorial standards.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of journalism experience, including 3 or more years reporting on pharmaceutical or life sciences industries.
• Proven success writing about the business of pharmaceuticals and a strong portfolio of impactful stories.
• Strong understanding of commercialization, drug research and development, regulatory trends, policy, AI in pharma and biotech, and global industry dynamics.
• Ability to analyze clinical trial data, scientific research, policy changes, earnings reports, and industry trends.
• Strong source-building, beat ownership, headline-writing, editing, time-management, and deadline-management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Journalism, English, or a related field.
