HMR Specialist - Hazardous Materials Response

Location: Phoenix, AZ, United States; onsite work in active construction, industrial, cleanroom, and semiconductor facility environments.

What you will do

• Support emergency response to chemical spills, leaks, releases, exposure concerns, and other hazardous-material incidents.
• Assist with hazard identification, site control, containment, isolation, escalation, decontamination, waste handling, and recovery activities.
• Inspect chemical storage areas, distribution systems, staging areas, construction zones, cleanrooms, and industrial work areas.
• Verify chemical handling, labeling, storage, segregation, secondary containment, PPE, and site-specific safety requirements.
• Document inspections, incidents, corrective actions, equipment usage, chemical records, and follow-up requirements.
• Coordinate with EHS personnel, engineers, contractors, facility operations, vendors, customer representatives, and emergency-response teams.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in hazardous materials, EHS, emergency response, industrial safety, chemical operations, construction safety, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of chemical hazards, Safety Data Sheets, chemical labeling, hazardous-material handling, and basic emergency-response principles.
• Ability to work safely in active construction, industrial, cleanroom, and semiconductor environments, including indoor and outdoor areas.
• Strong observational, documentation, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Nice to have

• HAZWOPER 40-Hour, OSHA 30-Hour, hazardous-materials operations- or technician-level training, or equivalent certifications.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
• Experience with chemical spills, semiconductor manufacturing, chemical distribution systems, cleanrooms, industrial facilities, or large-scale construction projects.
• Familiarity with acids, bases, solvents, compressed gases, specialty chemicals, hazardous-material storage, spill prevention, and decontamination.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and hazardous-material safety requirements.
