Engineering Technician IV (T3/T4) (Photonics/Optics)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; onsite laboratory and manufacturing work. Relocation eligible.

Salary: $33.00–$45.70 per hour

What you will do

• Assemble and integrate optical and opto-mechanical systems, photonic devices, modules, and fiber-optic assemblies.
• Perform precision fiber alignment, optical coupling, packaging, and wafer-, die-, and package-level device evaluation.
• Execute optical and electro-optical characterization experiments and measure insertion loss, coupling efficiency, optical power, spectral response, polarization, and high-speed link performance.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes, probe stations, light sources, imaging systems, and environmental test equipment.
• Troubleshoot optical, mechanical, and electrical issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Document procedures and results, improve standard operating procedures, and support laboratory organization, inventory, and prototype development.

Requirements

• Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in photonics, optics, physics, electrical engineering technology, laser technology, or applied science.
• At least 2 years of hands-on laboratory, manufacturing, or testing experience in optics, photonics, semiconductors, or a related field.
• Experience with optical alignment and fiber handling.
• Familiarity with optical laboratory equipment and measurement techniques.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and technical procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
