TL;DR
Materials and Processes Engineer (Low Observability): Preparing and managing a laboratory for low-observability material mixing, testing, and pre-prototyping with an accent on composites, metals, surface treatments, paints, sealants, and elastomeric technologies. Focus on defining test plans, leading low-observability material testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and conducting failure analysis.

Location: Getafe Area, Spain; hybrid working is available when possible, with relatively frequent travel required.

What you will do

  • Prepare the requirements, capital expenditure dossier, departmental needs, health and safety measures, and financial plan for a new laboratory building.
  • Manage the laboratory and pre-prototyping area, including equipment maintenance and calibration, facility upkeep, and health and safety compliance.
  • Support the research, development, qualification, and optimization of composites, metals, surface treatments, paints, sealants, and elastomeric technologies.
  • Represent the Materials & Process Development department in project meetings, multifunctional teams, and task groups.
  • Lead testing activities for low-observability materials and support test-plan definition for research, technology, design, and development projects.
  • Conduct failure analysis and provide technical support to services, CML, and the industrial environment.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or Science; a Master's degree is highly valued.
  • At least 5 years of experience in materials and processes, including laboratory work and knowledge of appropriate test methods.
  • Experience with scientific and technological laboratories, materials analysis, sample observation, material qualification, and supplier development.
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance, services, CML, REACH, Airbus material requirements, and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of low-observability materials and thermal or electrical functionalities, with experience in impact analysis and problem-solving.
  • Advanced English and Spanish are required. Flexibility, interpersonal skills, pressure management, international experience, and availability for frequent travel are also expected.

  • Experience managing a laboratory or pre-prototyping area.
