Data Platform Engineer (AWS)

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington will not be considered.

Salary: $85,389–$116,975 per year

What you will do

• Lead modernization of a healthcare data platform from an MSSQL XML object store to a scalable AWS architecture.
• Evaluate and select AWS storage, analytics, and query services based on reporting needs, cost, performance, and scalability.
• Design SQL reporting and query layers that enable business stakeholders and non-technical users to work with healthcare data.
• Architect XML data migration strategies, including storage formats, partitioning, schemas, catalogs, and metadata management.
• Optimize queries and data infrastructure using partitioning, compression, file formats, and query pattern tuning.
• Build CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code solutions and collaborate with C#/.NET engineers on EDI data flows.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software or data engineering experience with a strong AWS focus.
• Production experience architecting cloud data platform migrations in enterprise or healthcare environments.
• Hands-on experience with S3, Athena, Glue, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, OpenSearch, Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Strong SQL skills and experience querying, transforming, and modeling XML or JSON data at scale.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and Infrastructure as Code using CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) security clearance.

Nice to have

• AWS certifications.
• Experience with EDI X12 medical claims, HL7, FHIR, healthcare payer or PBM systems, and pharmacy operations.
• Familiarity with C#/.NET integrations and Entity Framework migration or deprecation projects.
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements in cloud data architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience is considered.
