Azure Databricks Architect (AI/ML)

Location: London, United Kingdom. Hybrid working across company offices, client sites, and home; working from home 100% of the time is not permitted.

What you will do

• Architect enterprise-scale Azure Databricks platforms and scalable, secure, cost-optimised cloud data platforms.
• Define platform strategies, roadmaps, governance models, reference architectures, and technical standards.
• Design FinOps operating models, cost attribution frameworks, chargeback/showback models, and enterprise tagging strategies.
• Establish data governance, security controls, secure integration patterns, and regulatory compliance alignment.
• Lead discovery zone architecture, onboarding frameworks, and migration from POSIT/RStudio and other analytical platforms.
• Lead architecture decisions across delivery teams while engaging business stakeholders, security teams, and enterprise architects.

Requirements

• Proven experience architecting enterprise-scale Azure Databricks platforms.
• Deep knowledge of Databricks Serverless, SQL Warehouses, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Azure networking, identity, security, and private connectivity.
• Experience with lakehouse architecture, data integration, BI, analytics, AI/ML, and consumption-layer design.
• Experience leading cloud transformation, platform modernisation, governance, documentation, and standards initiatives.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor others, and collaborate with business, security, and architecture stakeholders.
• Successful candidates must complete pre-employment checks covering identity, nationality or immigration status, three years of employment history, and unspent criminal records.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale Azure and Databricks transformation programmes.
• Experience with POSIT/RStudio consolidation programmes.
• AI/ML platform architecture, LLM, model serving, vector retrieval, and RAG architecture experience.
• Experience in financial services, insurance, public sector, or utilities.
