Lead Solutions Architect (Generative AI)

Location: United Kingdom, remote or hybrid; London or UK-based. The role requires working across EMEA time zones and travelling to customer sites in the region as needed.

What you will do

• Serve as the technical authority on Generative AI, LLMs, and applied machine learning for EMEA Emerging Digital Natives and Startups.
• Design and de-risk customer GenAI use cases, including retrieval-augmented generation, agentic systems, fine-tuning, and evaluation.
• Build proofs of concept and production-quality reference implementations on Databricks using Mosaic AI, MLflow, Model Serving, Vector Search, and Unity Catalog.
• Lead fine-tuning and model-customisation engagements for open LLMs, including judge-based and label-efficient evaluation.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to influence the roadmap and communicate product direction to the field.
• Mentor field engineering teams through workshops, reference architectures, internal enablement, customer briefings, conference talks, and technical publications.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in LLM applications, including RAG, agents, tool use, fine-tuning, model customisation, prompt engineering, evaluation, and safety guardrails.
• Strong foundations in machine learning and deep learning, including distributed training, GPU workloads, and the full MLOps lifecycle.
• Production development experience with Python and the ML ecosystem, including PyTorch, Transformers, MLflow, and Spark.
• Experience with Databricks or the ability to ramp up quickly, plus cloud experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Excellent communication and consultative skills with both engineers and senior technical executives.
• Must be based in the United Kingdom, able to work across EMEA time zones, and willing to travel to customer sites within the region.

• Experience in regulated or high-stakes industries such as healthcare, life sciences, or financial services.
• Experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams to influence roadmaps.
