Principal Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $261,500–$353,500 per year, with possible cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and deliver AI-native product experiences for mid-market ERP customers.
• Shape the architecture of an AI-native ERP using agents, automation, and human collaboration.
• Build workflows with human-in-the-loop approvals, explainability, proactive data capture, and process automation.
• Evaluate and adopt LLM orchestration, retrieval, tool use, multi-agent systems, and AI evaluation frameworks.
• Design and implement highly available, scalable, secure, reliable, and observable production services.
• Lead cross-functional technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and set engineering direction.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience developing systems or software for large business environments.
• 5+ years designing complex distributed systems, management products, or business applications.
• Strong applied AI experience covering traditional ML and Generative AI.
• Experience with LLM APIs, orchestration frameworks, prompt and context engineering, RAG, tool use, multi-agent architectures, and evaluation or guardrail frameworks.
• Strong coding skills in Java, Python, or TypeScript, plus experience with REST/JSON services, scalable web services, real-time and batch processing, and data movement.

Nice to have

• Experience with ERP, financials, or operations domains.
• Hands-on production development of agentic experiences.
• Experience with Kafka, Pub/Sub, Spark/PySpark, SageMaker, feature stores, or vector stores.
