Principal Engineer, AI

Location: New York City, United States; hybrid work model with two days per week onsite in the New York office

Base salary: $210,000–$285,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, and production deployment of scalable Generative AI and machine learning systems.
• Develop end-to-end GenAI features, including backend APIs, model integration, monitoring, evaluations, and deployments.
• Integrate and optimize LLMs for business planning use cases through prompt engineering, RAG, fine-tuning, and conversational interfaces.
• Build agentic workflows that make complex planning tasks accessible through natural language.
• Design evaluation, monitoring, logging, and observability frameworks for measuring quality, latency, usage, errors, and model behavior.
• Collaborate with data scientists to productionize ML models and forecasting algorithms.

Requirements

• Extensive professional experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related engineering fields.
• End-to-end experience training and deploying ML models in production environments.
• Deep knowledge of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, conversational AI patterns, and domain-specific LLM fine-tuning.
• Strong expertise in MLOps and LLMOps, including scalable, reliable, and monitorable model deployments.
• Experience with agentic frameworks and autonomous agent architectures.
• Proficiency in Python and modern software development practices, including testing, code review, and CI/CD.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience with cloud-native ML infrastructure, vector databases, embedding models, and model-serving frameworks.
• Experience with A/B testing, AI experimentation frameworks, model observability tools, open-source ML projects, or research publications.
