Head of Business Controlling (f/m/d) for an Individual Managed Business

Location: Hybrid across Germany, with locations in Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Kirchheim unter Teck, and Erlangen

What you will do

• Own financial management reporting, performance analysis, and operational controlling for an Individual Managed Business across project and service portfolios.
• Design and lead forecasting, budgeting, closing, and standardized planning processes across regions and entities.
• Partner with business leadership on portfolio, pricing, capacity, investment, and strategic decisions.
• Support the carve-out into a standalone company, including cost transparency, separation-related financial effects, reporting readiness, and financial storytelling.
• Set the digital roadmap using data analytics, automation, and AI to improve reporting quality and business insight.
• Lead and develop an international finance team of more than 15 employees and support M&A, strategic initiatives, and investor-facing financial topics.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• At least five years of senior financial leadership experience with a strong background in business controlling and financial management.
• Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, reporting, and standardized planning processes in complex global environments.
• Experience with carve-outs, separations, post-merger integration, or IPO readiness, or the resilience to develop this expertise.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, analytical, conceptual, and strategic thinking skills.
• Proficiency in SAP, financial systems, advanced Excel, and digital analytics tools; fluent English is required.
