Head of Finance (Fintech)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid setup with 3 days per week in the office. Up to 6 remote calendar weeks per year.

What you will do

• Lead the full budgeting cycle, including financial planning, monthly variance reviews, quarterly budget controls, procurement reviews, and KPI development.
• Build cash forecasting models and provide management updates on burn rate, runway, liquidity, and treasury.
• Prepare board and investor reporting, present financial performance, and communicate KPIs and business progress.
• Build analytical foundations including unit economics, cohort analysis, profitability modelling, pricing analysis, and financial data quality standards.
• Lead the finance workstream for equity rounds and acquisitions, including modelling, due diligence, target selection, and post-merger integration.
• Implement an ERP system, manage external accounting and tax relationships, and grow a high-performing finance team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in an in-house finance role, private equity, management or financial consultancy, and/or investment banking.
• Strong experience building financial models from scratch and working with multi-entity and multi-currency structures.
• Ownership of forecasting and budgeting cycles, preferably in a SaaS or VC-backed environment.
• Familiarity with accounting, billing, and spend management tools such as DATEV, Stripe, Moss, or Spendesk; ERP experience is beneficial.
• Excellent communication skills, proactive problem-solving, commercial flexibility, and comfort operating in ambiguity.
• Fluent English; B2/C1+ German is strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Fund industry or fintech experience.
• Experience with ERPs such as NetSuite.
• Previous experience in a Head of Finance role is not required.
