Senior Autonomy Software Engineer (Mapping)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; office-based role

Salary: $200,000–$260,000 USD annually base salary for the SF/Silicon Valley location, plus equity, bonuses, and benefits.

What you will do

• Set the technical strategy and architecture for onboard navigation and pose estimation systems.
• Design and develop sensor fusion and pose estimation using IMU, camera, lidar, GNSS, and wheel-speed data.
• Lead visual and lidar odometry algorithm development and assess build-versus-adopt decisions.
• Define navigation metrics and evaluation methods for organization-wide algorithm and system performance assessment.
• Evaluate sensor performance and optimize sensor selection, calibration, settings, and uncertainty characterization.
• Mentor engineers and act as the technical escalation point for complex localization problems.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD with academic or industry experience building navigation, localization, and odometry systems.
• Expertise in C++ and strong software engineering skills for highly reliable, maintainable deployed applications.
• Deep experience with 6-DOF pose estimation using Kalman filtering, factor graphs, or comparable state-estimation techniques.
• Experience with computer vision, visual odometry, and/or point-cloud odometry.
• Experience mentoring engineers, defining technical direction, writing design documentation, and collaborating across engineering disciplines.
• Roles with sensitive requirements may require verification of U.S. residence, U.S. person status, or citizenship status.
