Senior Embedded Software Engineer - Electrification

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States; onsite five days a week. Relocation is available, and visa sponsorship is available for eligible applicants.

Salary: $112,710–$169,060 per year

What you will do

• Design and develop embedded software features for machine electrification and propulsion control systems.
• Define software, interface, and framework requirements for embedded electronic controls.
• Develop real-time software for battery-electric and hybrid powertrain systems, including battery management systems, inverters, motor controllers, and energy management systems.
• Integrate software components, libraries, auto-generated code, calibration data, and configuration datasets into deployable production ECU images.
• Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate MATLAB/Simulink algorithms and maintain model-to-software traceability.
• Develop verification strategies, execute unit through regression testing, troubleshoot defects, and support field issue resolution.

Requirements

• Degree in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
• Proven embedded C development experience in an embedded software environment.
• Proven experience with model-based development using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Knowledge of CAN, CAN FD, J1939, and Ethernet communication protocols.
• Experience with RTOS environments, real-time software architectures, version control tools such as Git, and embedded debugging tools.
• Ability to analyze requirements, troubleshoot technical issues, and communicate effectively across engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience developing embedded real-time software for powertrain controls and battery systems.
• Scripting experience, such as Python.
• Experience with FMEA processes and electronic system failure modes.
