Senior Firmware Engineer (Embedded C)

Location: Bedford, Massachusetts, United States. Full-time onsite role with occasional travel once or twice a year to trade shows, customer sites, or partnered business units.

Salary: $130,000–$170,000 annually, with potential performance-based and long-term incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize embedded firmware for high-speed, high-precision sensor technology.
• Implement signal-processing algorithms and control loops, including automatic gain control, PID, gain, offset, and phase correction.
• Develop MCU firmware in C with emphasis on performance, resource utilization, low latency, and power efficiency.
• Implement low-level communication protocols including CAN, BiSS, SPI, I2C, UART, and Ethernet.
• Collaborate with hardware, FPGA, systems, and application software engineers on firmware requirements and system integration.
• Build test benches, validate designs with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, and support manufacturing and field teams with debugging.

Requirements

• 5+ years of firmware engineering experience focused on MCU firmware design, development, and testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related advanced degree.
• Demonstrated experience with C programming for firmware and with signal processing and embedded control algorithms.
• Experience with digital and analog electronics, schematics, MCU peripherals, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Experience with revision control systems such as GitHub, Agile or Kanban methodologies, and tools such as Jira.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft tools including Visio, Excel, and Word.
