Engineering Technician 4 (Laboratory Instrumentation)

Location: hirify.global Vancouver Campus, Vancouver, BC, Canada; onsite position

Salary: $7,013.27–$7,949.29 CAD monthly

What you will do

• Repair, maintain, and diagnose laboratory instrumentation used in research and teaching laboratories.
• Design, fabricate, and modify specialized electronic and mechanical systems and research equipment.
• Review drawings and sketches, determine technical requirements, and recommend practical solutions.
• Operate electronic test, prototyping, metalworking, and woodworking equipment.
• Advise faculty, staff, and students on equipment design, operation, and safety procedures.
• Coordinate project work and, when required, supervise technicians, research staff, or students.

Requirements

• Graduation from a technical college or institute, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship.
• At least 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a scientific, research, or university setting.
• Experience designing and fabricating specialized research equipment based on consultation with researchers.
• Strong technical knowledge of relevant trade practices, methods, and materials, with the ability to resolve complex operational and design problems autonomously.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment under pressure.
