TL;DR
Senior R&D Electrical Engineer (Directed Energy): Designing, integrating, and testing advanced electrical systems for directed energy, pulsed-power, energy-storage, and high-power microwave programs with an accent on analog and digital circuitry, mixed-signal PCB design, and embedded electronics. Focus on leading hardware development, troubleshooting complex systems, conducting system-level testing, and integrating electrical hardware into multidisciplinary R&D platforms.

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; full-time onsite at hirify.global headquarters

What you will do

  • Lead electrical hardware development across requirements definition, trade studies, analysis, schematic design, PCB design, integration, and testing.
  • Design and develop analog, digital, mixed-signal, and embedded electronic systems.
  • Integrate electrical hardware into high-power microwave, pulsed-power, directed-energy, and related systems.
  • Perform hardware bring-up, system-level testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, computer, and other engineering disciplines and engineering technicians.
  • Lead technical efforts and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience; a Master’s degree in STEM may substitute for 2 years of experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Experience with schematic capture, PCB design and layout, hardware integration, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging.
  • Working knowledge of EMI/EMC, grounding, shielding, and electrical design practices.
  • Ability to independently solve technical problems and communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary R&D environment.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field and 8 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Altium Designer, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink, or comparable tools.
  • Experience with high-speed digital, mixed-signal, high-voltage, embedded, and digital communication systems.
  • Experience with pulsed-power, directed-energy, RF, or other specialized R&D systems.
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
