Controls Technician (HVAC)

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA; frequent local travel to jobsites across Eastern Michigan and work in onsite commercial and industrial environments.

What you will do

• Perform startup, checkout, commissioning, troubleshooting, testing, and servicing of airflow control systems and HVAC equipment.
• Support projects in laboratories, healthcare facilities, clean rooms, pharmaceutical environments, and other critical spaces.
• Read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, sequences of operation, and equipment performance data.
• Complete wiring, terminations, device verification, functional testing, system adjustments, and balancing.
• Maintain installation records, as-built drawings, programming files, and commissioning reports.
• Participate in jobsite meetings, project walkthroughs, owner training, safety procedures, and final commissioning activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or state-recognized GED; a mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or related technical degree is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, airflow, temperature controls, and mechanical equipment operation.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Troubleshooting aptitude, attention to detail, clear communication, and willingness to learn specialized critical-environment systems.
• Ability to use hand tools, laptops, email, smartphones, tablets, and Microsoft Office.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-based sponsorship.
