Project Engineer - Controls (HVAC)

Location: Tampa, Florida, United States. Onsite Monday through Thursday; flexible work location on Fridays. Some travel to construction sites within the district is required.

Annual base salary: $84,740–$118,860. Incentive eligible; not eligible for sales commission.

What you will do

• Design hardware and software for building automation systems using direct digital controls across varied building types.
• Review contracts, mechanical plans, specifications, estimates, equipment submittals, and job surveys for controls system design.
• Create installation, submittal, and as-built drawings, advanced sequences of operation, and Operations and Maintenance manuals.
• Transition design documents to the field and support wiring, programming, electrical terminations, commissioning, graphics development, testing, and startup.
• Prepare project cost estimates when required and advise or guide other engineers and BAS technicians.
• Investigate customer concerns, implement corrective actions, and provide technical solutions and feedback.

Requirements

• Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, construction, engineering technology, or a related field; alternatively, 7+ years of HVAC industry experience in technician, project management, or estimating roles.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems, building automation systems, and temperature controls.
• Experience with a drafting or design program and knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of industry-standard integration protocols, IT infrastructure, and network architecture.
• Valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work onsite in Tampa Monday through Thursday and travel to local construction sites as required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of new construction, renovation and retrofit projects, performance contracting, and service project management.
• Understanding of Trane Controls products, applicable third-party devices, and integration requirements.
