Journeyman HVAC Technician

Location: Lansing, Michigan, United States. Field-based work is conducted on-site at customer locations and may include work at the Rental Services depot, overtime, and occasional overnight stays.

Hourly base pay: $35.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Test, start up, commission, service, and maintain assigned HVAC projects and equipment.
• Serve as the direct customer contact while diagnosing, analyzing, and repairing HVAC systems at customer sites or the Rental Services depot.
• Coordinate with team leaders and customers on installations and repairs by reviewing building layouts, forecasting issues, gathering materials, and synchronizing field work.
• Use software, hand tools, blueprints, and engineering specifications to diagnose and repair units.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, site surveys, equipment replacements, and system modifications.
• Maintain safety standards, document equipment condition and usage, and communicate service findings to customers and Project Managers.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• 2–5 years of commercial HVAC experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and handheld computers such as smartphones or iPads.
• Ability to work flexibly, including overtime and occasional overnight stays.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for working with customers, vendors, coworkers, and Project Managers.

Nice to have

• EPA certification, such as HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, or Gas Installer certification.
